Therapy That Honors Who You Are — Not Who You’re Told to Be.
Life Migration Therapy is designed for people of color, adult children of immigrants, and underserved voices navigating the weight of identity, pressure, and past pain. Let’s process it together—on your terms, at your pace, with care that sees all of you.
The world asks so much of you. Therapy shouldn’t.
Whether you're navigating workplace micro aggressions, family pressures as an adult second-gen son, or the quiet exhaustion of always being “the strong one”—you deserve a space to exhale.
At Life Migration Therapy, sessions are rooted in cultural understanding and radical care. This isn’t surface-level support or one-size-fits-all advice. This is therapy for the parts of you that rarely get the mic.
Therapy with context,
care, and culture.
Hi, I’m Charika — a Black woman, a therapist, and someone who believes that healing doesn’t have to mean explaining yourself at every turn. I work with clients navigating layered identities, intergenerational expectations, and the kind of stress that doesn’t always have language — especially for those of us raised in survival mode.
In this space, you don’t have to code-switch, shrink, or wear the mask that society requires of you. I see therapy as a collaborative process rooted in liberation, justice, and self-ownership. My approach is rooted in understanding your culture and lived experiences, and I work in a way that respects your past while helping you move toward where you want to be
Whether you're processing immigration experiences, unpacking career burnout, or holding the weight of being the “strong one” in every room, this is where you get to rest and rebuild.
Let’s make space for your story!

Healing Looks Different for Everyone.
Here's What It Felt Like for Them.
You don’t have to carry it all alone.
Whether you’re silently navigating stress from work, unraveling deep-rooted family dynamics, or healing after relationship trauma — you’re not alone, and you don’t have to “just push through it.”
Here are some of the experiences I support clients through:
Anxiety, depression & chronic stress
Career burnout & work-life imbalance
Life transitions & identity development
Attachment wounds & relationship struggles
Intergenerational trauma & family dynamics
Neurodiversity, including ADHD & sensory overwhelm
Multicultural concerns & cultural adjustment
Systemic oppression, racial identity & decolonization work
LGBTQIA+ identity exploration & affirmation
Women’s mental health & hormonal shifts (PMDD, postpartum, etc.)
I specialize in a holistic approach working with people who feel like they’re always “doing the most” for everyone else — but struggle to pour into themselves. If you’ve been wondering if it’s finally time to start healing, the answer is yes.
Therapy with me isn’t about “fixing” — it’s about coming home to yourself.

Why don’t I take insurance?
I don’t take insurance because it often creates barriers for vulnerable communities, including people of color, immigrants and LGBTQ+ community. Insurance companies require diagnoses for coverage, which can be used against individuals in legal, employment, or immigration matters. Many people in these communities are also misdiagnosed or denied care due to systemic biases. By not accepting insurance, I ensure that therapy remains a safe, judgment-free space where healing isn’t dictated by rigid policies or profit-driven systems.
While I don’t accept insurance directly, many clients use their out-of-network benefits to get reimbursed for sessions. I provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company. Depending on your plan, they may cover a portion of the cost.
We've partnered with Mentaya, a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.
Mentaya is perfect if you:
• Have out-of-network benefits
• Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance
• Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement
• Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork!
Here's how it works:
1. Sign up for Mentaya here
2. Our practice will enter your sessions into the platform.
3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.
4. You get reimbursed by insurance!
Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies.
It's risk-free: They guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.
