With Charika White, LICSW/LCSW-C, you’ll get culturally-affirming, trauma-informed support tailored to you, plus clear next steps you can use right away.
Healing Looks Different for Everyone.
Here's What It Felt Like for Them.
Is an Individual Therapy Intensive Right for You?
If weekly 50-minute sessions feel too slow or life is throwing more at you than you can process—an individual therapy intensive can help you make meaningful progress in a single, focused block.
This virtual offering is available to adults located in Maryland and Washington, DC.
You might choose an intensive when you’re:
Navigating a big decision or life transition (new job, breakup, move, graduation, parenthood)
Carrying complex stress from work, caregiving, or burnout and need a reset
Processing trauma, immigration/acculturation stress, or intergenerational patterns that keep repeating
Wanting targeted support to clarify boundaries, strengthen relationships, or reconnect with your values
Feeling stuck in anxiety, low mood, or perfectionism and ready for a practical plan you can use now
First-gen or part of a marginalized community (Black, LGBTQ+, immigrant, neurodivergent) seeking culturally-affirming care that understands context, not just symptoms
What an intensive is (and isn’t):
A therapy intensive is a single, extended session designed to go deeper, create clarity, and leave you with a step-by-step plan.
It’s not a crisis service or a substitute for ongoing weekly therapy; many clients pair an intensive with continued sessions or use it as a focused tune-up between regular care.
If you’re located in MD or DC and this fits, you’re in the right place.
How an Individual Therapy Intensive Works
A focused, extended session lets you go deeper without rushing and leaves you with a practical plan you can start using right away.
Intensives are conducted via secure telehealth for adults located in Maryland or Washington, DC.
Here’s what working with Charika looks like:
Schedule a Complimentary Consultation
We’ll briefly connect to confirm fit, answer questions, and decide whether an individual therapy intensive or weekly psychotherapy makes the most sense for your goals.Pre-Intensive Prep
You’ll complete a brief questionnaire and set two–three priorities (examples: boundary-setting, processing a specific experience, mapping triggers, clarifying next steps). I’ll review your history and prepare a tailored framework so our time is focused and efficient.Your Intensive Session (one extended block)
We meet for a single, extended virtual session (typically 2–3 hours) using an integrative, trauma-informed approach.
Depending on your needs, we may draw from:CBT & ACT for thought/behavior change and values-aligned action
DBT-informed skills for emotion regulation and distress tolerance
Attachment-based and culturally responsive work to honor context
Mindfulness and parts-informed exploration to increase self-compassion and clarity
Expect a steady pace, built-in breaks, and a compassionate, culturally affirming space.
Personalized Action Plan
Within 48 hours, you’ll receive a concise written summary: key insights, step-by-step next actions, and a resource list (scripts, worksheets, coping tools). If helpful, we’ll outline a brief after-care routine to support integration.Optional Integration Session
Many clients schedule a 50–55 minute follow-up within 1–2 weeks to review progress, fine-tune strategies, and keep momentum going.
Billing note: Intensives are self-pay/out-of-network. If your plan reimburses extended psychotherapy, a superbill can be provided—check your benefits for details.

What You’ll Walk Away With
An immigration evaluation is an in-depth assessment that helps individuals seeking legal status in the U.S. by documenting the emotional, psychological, and hardship-related impacts of their situation. These evaluations provide crucial support for asylum cases, hardship waivers, VAWA petitions, U-Visas, and more—helping immigrants and their families share their stories and pursue safety, stability, and a better future.
